Program Requirements & Standards

The Post-Baccalaureate Science Teacher Certification Program curriculum consists of 8 professional development courses as well as a minimum of 5 courses in one of three areas of specialization in the fields of Biology, Chemistry and General Science.

If you have completed your Bachelor's degree, especially in natural or physical sciences, you are encouraged to apply. You must have a strong academic record. In-service teachers wishing to obtain additional science teacher certifications are also encouraged to apply.

Taking Courses before Admission

If you are interested in taking courses without formal admission to the science teacher certification program, you may. You can apply up to 12 credits of course work taken at USP prior to formal admission toward your Science Teacher's Certification. The following materials will be required prior to course enrollment:

  • Completed application form
  • Submission of all transcripts from all completed college work
  • Résumé/Curriculum Vitae
